President Donald Trump just delivered one of the most powerful speeches of his presidency. One that is absolutely guaranteed to unsettle the Democrat candidates who are challenging him in the 2020 election.
It all began at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday in New York City. In a strongly worded warning to the world, President Trump took shots at the ideologies of failure that Democrat candidates like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are trying to push down the throats of the American people.
Everything from socialism to globalism to open borders – Trump attacked it all:
“Socialism and communism are about one thing only. Power for the ruling class. Today I repeat a message for the world that I have delivered at home. America will never be a socialist country. Last century socialism and communism killed 100 million people.“
And Trump didn’t just stop there. He then proclaimed that each country has an “absolute right” to protect and control its own borders, which is something Democrats have fought against from the very beginning:
“Today, I have a message for those open-border activists, who cloak themselves in the rhetoric of social justice: Your policies are not just. Your policies are cruel and evil.”
And last but not least, Trump declared that patriotism was the cure to the world’s ailments – not the evil globalist policies held by Democrat leaders like Hillary Clinton and George Soros:
“The future does not belong to globalists. The future belongs to patriots. The future belongs to sovereign and independent nations, who protect their citizens, respect their neighbors and honor the differences that make each country special and unique.”
This is the kind of rhetoric that will make Donald Trump hard to beat in 2020. Strong principles coupled with strong words. Not unlike Ronald Reagan.
QUESTION OF THE DAY:
Do YOU think Trump is right to blast socialism?
