President Trump has just ENDED peace talks with Afghanistan.
On Saturday, Trump was about to have a secret meeting with Afghanistan’s president and members of the Taliban in order to pound out a peace agreement between our country and theirs.
Trump’s peace deal would have allowed U.S. troops to finally begin returning home after what has been one of the longest wars in our country’s history – only if it didn’t put our national security at risk.
Sadly, it appears as if the Taliban broke the terms of the meeting conditions by orchestrating a suicide bombing attack on Thursday that killed 1 American soldier and 11 other people.
According to the New York Times, Trump canceled the meeting because it would have been a fruitless endeavor to negotiate with such violent people:
“If they cannot agree to a ceasefire during these very important peace talks, and would even kill 12 innocent people, then they probably don’t have the power to negotiate a meaningful agreement anyway…”
Trump then added:
“How many more decades are they willing to fight?”
Trump is doing his best to fulfill his campaign promise of ending all of the United State’s “endless wars,” but countries like Afghanistan won’t allow the pointless violence to stop.
Thankfully, Trump is making the right choice by NOT dealing with the Taliban. They’re violent, dishonest people who will turn on us immediately if given the chance. We can’t take the risk of trusting them.
QUESTION OF THE DAY:
Do YOU think Trump is right to end negotiations with the Taliban?
Email me your answer. I can’t wait to hear from you.
Until next time,
PS: In case you were wondering, buying a Betsy Ross flag shirt is cheaper than you think.
They’re selling on Amazon for under $20. So if you’re like me and want to take a stand for our nation’s history, then please don’t be afraid to buy one.
Together, we can take a stand against Nike and Colin Kaepernick and show the whole world that these colors don’t run.
