Second Amendment Lawsuit
Several individuals filed lawsuit against the DC City Council’s draconian gun ban. (Yes, guns are banned in Washington DC., the capital of the free world.) The DC Court of Appeals struck down the ban as being unconstitutional. Now, the United States Supreme Court will be deciding whether or not to hear the case at the top level. If the SCOTUS decides to hear the case, it will be the first full-fledged Second Amendment case since 1939. The stakes are unbelievable.
Plaintiff co-council Robert A. Levy notes:
Later this month, the Supreme Court will decide whether to review the circuit court’s blockbuster opinion in Parker vs. District of Columbia, the first federal appellate opinion to overturn a gun control law on the ground that the 2nd Amendment protects the rights of individuals. If the high court takes the case, oral arguments likely will be held this spring, with a decision expected before June 30.
By June 30th, gun control could be destroyed for some time. Or gun bans could be the way of the future. Time can only tell.
