Going further, though, your comparison of God to our wives and neighbors doesn’t really satisfy what you’d like it to. Sure, we don’t feel the need to “prove” her existence any more than our senses allow, but should we choose to, that proof is there. This can’t happen with God.

In response to your footnote: Based on what empirical evidence we have, those fisherman (Mark, Matthew, etc.) didn’t write the Bible. You can look this stuff up for yourself. An example? Luke is known to have been written hundreds of years after the death of Christ.

In order to save people, we need to pray for the Spirit’s conviction; an experience.
