The Weird Post

It infinitely amazes me to see how millions of weird and eccentric people try their hardest to be “normal”. To conform. To love listening to a band because everyone else loves the group. To love a movie because everyone else loves the flick. To view the state in the same fashion that most other people that they know view it, because they are absolutely horrified at the idea of being a “radical” or “extremist”. To see them react in horror at their secret identity, the weirdo inside us all. Yes, this is a strange entry. Yes, you are weird. You have weird thoughts at weird times. In the middle of conversations with other people, you think of something that you’d like to say, but don’t. It’s okay. Ironically, everybody’s the same … Read entire article »

Second Amendment Lawsuit

Several individuals filed lawsuit against the DC City Council’s draconian gun ban. (Yes, guns are banned in Washington DC., the capital of the free world.) The DC Court of Appeals struck down the ban as being unconstitutional. Now, the United States Supreme Court will be deciding whether or not to hear the case at the top level. If the SCOTUS decides to hear the case, it will be the first full-fledged Second Amendment case since 1939. The stakes are unbelievable. Plaintiff co-council Robert A. Levy notes: Later this month, the Supreme Court will decide whether to review the circuit court’s blockbuster opinion in Parker vs. District of Columbia, the first federal appellate opinion to overturn a gun control law on the ground that the 2nd Amendment protects the rights of individuals. If … Read entire article »

Self-Determinism

I was reading over at To Make Amends, a fantastic blog by my friend Caleb Winn, and was incredibly impressed by one of his posts, well, all of them really. The post that grabbed my attention was the one regarding predestination, free-will and self-determinism. The article is entitled “Total Self-Determinism“. One of the most poignant quotes: “Imagine that I freeze a single moment in time and replicate an infinite number of copies of the universe. In each of them, absolutely nothing has changed. I am confronted with exactly the same scenario, at exactly the same time. My body and soul are the same in each universe. Nothing is different. In such a situation, with an infinite set of identical universes, I would make the same choice in each. Keep in mind … Read entire article »

Gun Control

As many of you know, I recently launched a website on gun control. Today I moved it to the Rebirth of Freedom Foundation to consolidate the link-love for both of the sites. The gun control aspect of the site is still under construction, and will be some weeks before it’s completely functional. … Read entire article »

Abbrasive Capitalist

Up to this point on Reason and Capitalism, I’ve maintained a fairly professional and scholarly writing style. However, I recently stumbled into a movement so full of BS that I will take a break from semi-scholarliness in order to vent my frustrations at the utter stupidity of certain individuals. The movement is based upon the idea that we are a “consumer society.” This is obviously bad, because, well, crap, it’s just bad to consume stuff. Because that is so selfish. In order to combat this, several have made it known that they will not be purchasing materials on the day after Thanksgiving, in order to serve poor people. Yes, they say they won’t buy products made by poor people in order to server poor people. Yes, this is as stupid as … Read entire article »

Make Money Online

So many people have come to me asking how I make my online income. I can’t blame them, considering, from their perspective at least, it looks like I just piddle around on the computer all day. Nothing could be further from the truth. To make money online is hard work, and isn’t easy. But I love it. I know that you can’t just sit back and expect a check to come flying through the front door. You have to go and seek and get that check by working hard and earning it. I would say “by the sweat of your brow”, but, well, I’ve never seen someone sweat while typing. Anyways, to make money online with a website is actually a three point process. It happens when a formula is applied, not … Read entire article »

Rebirth of Freedom Projects

As many of you know, I’m the web-master/president of the Rebirth of Freedom Foundation. Until now, the web-site was used as a super-small policy analysis collaboration project of a handful of enthusiastic teenage conservatives and libertarians. Like most organizations, the RoFF is getting older. I’m pleased to announce the start of a new series of projects that the RoFF will be hosting. Rather than simply posting a one or two page essay on each policy, the RoFF will be hosting several “mini”-sites. These mini sites will be exhaustive info-sites that could easily stand on their own. The project will take several months and/or years to comprehensively complete. The topics that will be exhaustively covered will include, but are not limited to: Gun Control Copyright Laws Immigration The Philosophy of Liberty As the project matures, the RoFF … Read entire article »

I Will Not Consent

“The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it.” -Ayn Rand To vote is to support, it is to condone, it is to agree. One does not vote “against” anyone. It’s not possible — look at your ballot before casting it, you will not see anything about “against”. No, you are voting for someone. To vote for something is to endorse it, not publicly, but privately. Not because of any realistic impact — your vote alone will probably never make a difference in an election. If you don’t vote the election will be the same, unless there was a tie — very rarely does this happen. This means your reason for voting is on the basis of principle, not because you think a policy change will … Read entire article »

Remember, Remember the Fifth of November

“There are of course those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn’t there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who’s to blame? Well certainly there are those more … Read entire article »
